WSD and CADE: Designing School Spaces
Applied Art students in Year 10 from The Ramsey College, Halstead came to Writtle College on 2nd April. They participated in a specifically tailored workshop to learn the about design and how to use it to develop an area of the school grounds. Richard Hughes Senior Lecturer in Landscape and Garden Design, Aggeliki Aggeli, Lecturer in Interior Architecture and Design and Imogen Collins, Creative Outreach Facilitator worked together to make the workshop a great success. Groups of students produced scale models of different concepts for the design of an area on the school site. A previous visit to the school had established the context for the project. The students are continuing to work on their proposals and will be presenting them to the Principal and staff at their College. The project came about as a result of the Pulse seminar run by Writtle School of Design in January. This is part of developing an ongoing relationship with The Ramsey College.
An exciting development for CADE’s school work will be another collaborative project with Creative Partnerships starting in May to help enable teachers to use their school grounds more imaginatively within the curriculum.
