'Scale and Proportion'
CADE, the Writtle School of Design and the School of Horticulture have been working with Sawyers Hall College in Brentwood as part of the Aim Higher initiative. The challenge was to help Year 10 Aim Higher pupils understand and value the role mathematics plays in daily life. Imogen Collins, Creative Outreach Facilitator and Clive Beale, Academic Projects Coordinator designed a series of workshops that would show GCSE candidates new ways to be inspired by Mathematics. The full day workshop, ‘Scale and Proportion’ held at Writtle College (second in the series) started off with an inspiring Horticultural tour of the grounds with Donna Sheringham, Recruitment & Admissions Officer (Horticulture).
The morning session continued with Greg Allen, Senior Lecturer in Landscape Management who taught the students about setting out from a plan and site levels. The afternoon session was run by Aggeliki Aggeli, and Claire Speedie both Lecturers in Interior Architecture and Interior Design, who taught the students the basics of Anthropometrics. The day was a great success and CADE looks forward to working with the school again in June.
