The school in Springfield, Chelmsford, has an ongoing relationship with the College. CADE has worked with them on a number of occasions and the school has encouraged their staff and pupils to participate in undergraduate research. On another occasion two senior lecturers (design and plant science) worked with the children on an exercise aimed at exploring the design process. Pupils worked with a partner as a client and through questions and answers found out the desired elements for their client’s personal garden. Then using images cut out of magazines they constructed a 3D visualisation of the garden, that encapsulated the wants and needs for the client and the aspirations of the designer. The session ended with a feedback plenary.
