Illuminating Design offered an exciting three day challenge that saw school students creating installations, based on the concept of shelter, within the Writtle College landscape. The installations were to be lit using specialist outdoor lighting, and to be viewed and appreciated at night.
Students worked as individuals exploring a range of ideas generating techniques including model making, work books, computer aided design and experimentation with materials. From some of the concepts generated students then worked in groups to develop and construct their installation piece. The summer school offered a chance to experience the process of taking an idea from the initial concept to reality with the support of those involved in higher education.
