‘Hot and Spicy’; ‘Fresh and Crunchy’ were the themes in a brief to design an outside area for eating. Inspired by a range of ideas-generating techniques, including smell boxes, the students used model making, work books, photography, computer-aided design and experimentation with materials to explore the designs. Two groups built their very different designs outside. A buffet based on the design themes was held and food eaten in the appropriate areas.
