CADE runs an ongoing series of residencies that allows creative professionals to interact with the Writtle College community in a range of arenas including the learning, built and green environments. Local, regional and international artists and designers interact with the students and staff to help them view their areas of investigation, expertise, learning and work in new ways. Residencies are funded by external organisations, charities and individuals in order to help creative professionals develop their practice, and to add vibrancy and intellectual development the life of the College.
Residencies can vary in both length and nature; they have lasted for several months or may have been completed in a few weeks. Some residencies involve considerable work within the curriculum while others interact through the use of the College estate.
